The Mario theme of the game, special Star hits/pitches and Error Items do make for a fun filled baseball experience. The simplified controls should allow for almost anyone young or old to get into the game as well. Yet the main part of the game, the challenge mode, does feel rather flat simply because it feels like an overblown training...

What is this space-age George Jetson gadgetry? Suggested pitches. While standing on the mound, the game suggests a pitch to you it's not cumbersome or annoying, but it is not really as interesting as its name.
Also more sparkle than substance is the online game. Sony has considerably beefed up its online offerings, building in league play that can simulate a season with up to thirty online players, and updating rosters through the season. But the actual games themselves are spotty and laggy and that is the death knoll for a game that relies so heavily upon timing...

Race through a bunch of different tracks and engine levels against AI racers to win new characters, vehicles and tracks. Very straight forward, almost to the point of phoning it in. Considering how much work went into the single-player of Smash Bros Brawl (another primarily multiplayer game), some cutscenes or an overarching story would've gone a long way.
For multiplayer, you can play split screen with up to 4 players, or hop online with one other person and take on folks from around the globe. While playing living people adds to the challenge of the game, Mario Kart really loses something if you're playing against people that aren't on the same couch as you, and the lack of voice chat doesn't help matters much. Though it's there, the cumbersome nature of the online features means that you're probably better off sticking with local games...
